Ray Higuera, age 59, previously of Silver City, passed away unexpectedly on Friday July 13, 2018. Ray, the youngest child of the late Elias & Maria Higuera was born June 10, 1959 in Lordsburg, New Mexico. He graduated from Silver High School in 1976.
Ray was never one to shy away from hard work. He ultimately established a career within the copper mining industry. His profession took him from Arizona to New Mexico. Shortly after his retirement he relocated to El Paso, Texas. He was a treasured son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Ray worked tirelessly to help others. He was also a fierce and loyal protector of those he loved. He enjoyed traveling, driving, refurbishing trucks, camping, and supporting the LA Dodgers & Dallas Cowboys. But most importantly spending quality time with his family and friends.
Ray will be profoundly missed by his companion Arlene Barragan; sons Bobby Ray Higuera, Javier Higuera, & Ray S Higuera; sister Marth Acosta & brother-in-law Rick Acosta of Birmingham, AL; sister Rosa Kirker & brother-in-law Robert Kirker of El Paso, TX; brother Elias Higuera of El Paso, TX: sister-in-law Virginia Martinez of Borger, TX; grand-children; nieces & nephews; great-nieces/great-nephews and friends. Ray was preceded in death by his parents Elias & Maria Higuera, niece Monica Polanco, and sister Dolores Higuera Zumbrunnen.
Visitation & the Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Sunday July 22, 2018 at (West) Perches Funeral Home, 6111 S Desert Blvd, El Paso, TX. Visitation will begin at 4:00 pm. Vigil service and Rosary will begin at 5:00 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will follow at 7:00 pm.
